The rooms
The spacious guesthouse rooms are decorated in a fresh country style and surround a pretty garden. Each room has its own veranda facing the garden. There are kettles in all the rooms with tea, coffee and biscuits. During winter crackling fires heat the rooms.
Standard: R325 pp pn ( 5 rooms). Honeymoon Suite: R450 pp pn. Single Supplement: R70.
Please note:
From the 1 September 2008 to the 1 December 2008, the rooms will be closed for renovations. The new style will remain homely and retain the country feeling, but will be beautifully appointed.
The Restaurant
Savour delicious lunches at the Post House. A blackboard menu offers a small but varied choice of dishes. A typical menu would include a hearty bowl of soup, such as Curried Butternut and Baby Marrow or Broccoli and Blue Cheese with ciabatta, Freshly baked Quiche of the day, such as salmon and leek served with salad, Asian style chicken and pepperdew wraps, delicious pasta dishes and scrumptious lamb and chicken pies with potato wedges and salad. Sunday lunches offer you something special for the day such a slow roasted lamb with all the trimmings.
The restaurant will shortly be opening for dinner and the famous Post House pub will be in operation again, much to the delight of those who remember the many wonderful evenings socializing here.
Coffee Shop
The Post House, situated in the original Post Office building, has a welcoming relaxed atmosphere. In winter the fires burn all day and the sunny stoep invites one to watch the village go by. The locals gather here daily for their fix of the best cappuccino in town. The Post House also serves a wicked hot chocolate as well as yummy milkshakes. Heavenly cupcakes, croissants and delicious filled ciabatta rolls are also available all day.
The Chocolaterie
The Post House boasts its own chocolatene, Le Petit Chocolat, where you can indulge your taste buds with Greyton’s own Von Geusau chocolates. These sublime chocolates are sold around the country at top delis and hotels. Only the best Belguim and French chocolate is used to make the range of naturally flavoured chocolates. Le Petit Chocolat also has its own range of decadent biscuits. Only the finest ingredients are used including Callebaut chocolate. Customers return from far and wide to stock up on these. They are definitely worth the calories!
Chocolate tasting
Von Geusau chocolates come in an enticing range of flavours including Chilli, Rose Geranium, Rock Salt, Cardamon, Lavender, Masala Chai, Crème Brulee, Cappuccino and many more. A range of tasters is available to help you make the difficult decision of which one to choose.
Special Occasions
Our restaurant can accommodate 50 people seated and is a wonderful venue for wedding receptions, birthdays or special tea’s . Whatever the occasion, we will provide the best service and atmosphere and can offer a custom designed menu to suit your needs. Our beautiful garden is also an option to host a celebration on a warm summer day or evening.
