About Greyton
The
beautiful village of Greyton nestles between the majestic Riviersonderend
mountain range and gently curving hills. This tranquil oasis of green lies
between two rivers, with lush colourful country gardens that complement
the thatched cottages and oak tree lined lanes. The villagers are friendly
and the ambiance is uniquely "Greyton".
Restaurants
Five of Greyton's restaurants are listed in the top 1001 restaurants in South Africa in the latest "Eat Out" magazine. Sadly one of them - The Old Mill - has since closed down. The others listed are Abbey Rose, The Oak and Vigne Cafe, The Post House and Peccadillos. We have fantastic chefs in our restaurants - men and women who are passionate about providing great food and excellent service.
A visit to Greyton is unique because this is one spot where you find rural sophistication, an oxymoron just about anywhere else in the country. You'll be spoilt for choice as you decide on your dining destination from, among others, Abbey Rose, Barnards, Via's, the 254 Restaurant, or Greyton Lodge. You can also enjoy deliciously healthy light meals, coffee and croissants and at The Oak & Vigne. Just remember to leave space for a taste of heavenly chocolate from the Von Geusau Chocolate Shop inside or a great ice-cream from Greyton Traditional Ice-Cream.

Overberg Wines
Historically, in Europe wine was produced locally and consumed locally. In Greyton we too can consume wines from the Overberg made by wine farms in the region, such as Andy Mitchell Wines, Lismore Estate Vineyards and Oewerzicht Cellar. Greyton is ideally situated for those wishing to explore the wines of the region.
At Elgin are Paul Cluver Wines, Oak Valley Estate and Ross Gower Wines, to name a few. All can be tasted at Elgin Vintners, situated just 300m off the N2 on the Viljoenshoop Road. Bot River too boasts many wine farms, such as Gabrielskloof, Wildekrans Wine Estate, Barton Wines, Luddite and Beaumont Wines. Hermanus, a gentle drive away through the wonderful Hemel en Aarde Valley, is home to a host of wine farms, including Hermanuspietersfontein, Bouchard Finlayson, Sumaridge Wines, Le Vierge Wine Estate, Newton Johnson, Ataraxia Wines, Pearly Gates Wines, Spookfontein Wines and Mount Babylon. Stanford offers include Standard Hills Estate and Raka Wine Cellar, while in Elim you can find Strandveld Wines, Quoin Rock Wines and Black Oystercatcher. Napier's wines include Jean Daneel Wines and Zandfontein.
